Are job-related moving expenses tax deductible?
Updated for tax year 2017

The tax benefits of moving
If you’re relocating to be closer to your new job, moving expenses can be deducted on your tax return if you meet the qualifications. This is true even if you don’t itemize.
However, the deduction isn’t quite as generous as it once was. You can no longer deduct house hunting trips or the cost of food while you are moving.
You can deduct the actual cost to move yourself, your family and pets, and your belongings.
