It is absolutely ridiculous that school loan rates are higher than 30 year mortgage rates.  In several states, they have no recourse mortgages meaning you can walk away and even if you owe more than the home is worth the lender cannot come after you.  Students cannot discharge a student loan and yet they are treated as if they are a higher risk! http://ditchcollege.com/student-resources/paying-student-loans-with-a-credit-card/
